It may be surprising to learn that vaping was introduced as a means to quit smoking but in recent years there is a full-blown vaping subculture developing around us. This has given rise to increasing nicotine addiction1 in various consumable forms in the U.S. and could be debated on its many demerits as far as health implications are concerned. But focusing only on the interesting facts regarding the “ENDS” culture, in this article we will discuss the many different vape juice products available with cannabinoids (CBD) as a key flavor in them.

But first, let’s briefly go through the different forms of ENDS developed since the introduction of the first e-cigarette by Herbert A. Gilbert from Beaver Falls, PA in 19672. The e-cigarette or vape subculture seems to have boomed during the last couple of decades with the introduction of mass-produced e-cigarettes, first by Chinese manufacturers in 2003 followed by American manufacturers in 2007.

Those first-generation e-cigarettes resembled the normal cigarettes being either disposable or rechargeable. The second-generation products had a clearomizer used to create nicotine vapors inside a single unit. The third-generation e-cigarettes were called ‘mods’ since a lot of the accessorizing details could be modified according to user preferences. The fourth and latest generation e-cigarettes, also vapes, are the most powerful3 and temperature regulating devices providing multiple flavor options.

The nicotine juice solution used inside any ENDS generally, and vapes specifically, is basically a mixture of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), nicotine, distilled water, and artificial flavoring. A range of vape juice flavorings from simple tobacco to fruits, candy, and chocolate can be enjoyed very easily nowadays.

What is CBD Vape Juice?

CBD vape juice is a vaping solution with CBD as the key ingredient along with other basic additives. It is very different from CBD oil since the oil is edible on its own but to smoke the same, you would need a specific CBD vape oil.

The reason for CBD’s popularity lies in its natural source as a cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. So all those organic-flavoring enthusiasts can satisfy their craving for this therapeutic alternative to other artificial flavorings. CBD does not get you high since it has 0% THC (sometimes 0.3% for full-spectrum CBD oil), instead, it has been shown to calm down anxiety, depression, inflammation, or pain symptoms.

Still, if you prefer other flavors instead of what some find to be a bitter aftertaste of CBD, there is a huge variety of CBD vape juices that offer palatable flavors like mint, berries, fruits, and unique combinations of flavors like coffee, vanilla, and butterscotch. Whatever your preference may be, the following is a helpful quick guide for some of the best CBD vape juices available on the market today.

Product Selection Methodology

For a carefully curated list of best CBD vape juices like this, several considerations go into the selection of reviewed products based on the best value and safety standards. Some of these key considerations are as follows:

Reputable CBD Brands

The #1 consideration is always to include only credible and reputable brands in our product lists so that quality and safety standards are ensured by the manufacturers.

Natural/Non-GMO

We only want to provide our readers with brands that source their hemp from farms that either are certified organic or only use organic farming practices to produce their crops.  While the other ingredients of the CBD oil vape product may not be organic due to the nature of the product, we want to ensure that the hemp used within the vape juice is GMO-free.

Third-party Lab Results

To verify the ingredients’ purity and potency, third-party lab tests play a critical role in maintaining the transparency and credibility of the products shared with users. Brands send their product batches to labs to perform an independent test and are then supplied with documents that show the results of these tests. We provide you with links so that you can verify that what the label says on the product is backed up by the third-party lab results.

Active and Inactive Ingredients

In any hemp-based product, CBD is considered an active ingredient with minutely-traceable amounts of inactive ingredients like THC. You should always read the ingredients list to ensure what constitutes the product you opt for according to personal suitability.

Potency

Each CBD user may have a tolerance level to the range of CBD potencies so it is paramount that you choose a product potency suitable to your specific therapeutical needs or consult your physician for guidance. If you are looking to incorporate CBD into your vaping routine it is best to start with a lower potency product to see how your body reacts to the level of potency you have chosen.

Variety of Price Points

With a booming CBD industry, the diverse range of products comes at a varying price range depending on the potency, amount, and unique flavorings among other differentiating features. We always try to incorporate products that can fit the budget limits of a wide audience without compromising the quality or safety standards.

Extraction Method

One of the key deciding factors for regular CBD users is the extraction method by which CBD has been sourced from the hemp plant. There are three common extraction methods:

Olive oil method of extraction

The olive oil method of extraction was the first method to be utilized for extracting CBD from hemp. It is a clean and cost-effective method that involves heating the raw plant material to a temperature that activates the plant. However, the main issue with this method is that the olive oil that is activated with CBD must then be strictly kept in a dark and cool place in order to keep it fresh.

Solvent extraction method

Solvent extraction uses butane, propane, ethanol, isopropyl, or alcohol to extract the CBD from hemp. It is the cheapest and quickest method but is also the most dangerous.

CO2 extraction method

Currently, the most common method of extracting CBD is the CO2 method, which is also the most expensive due to the cost of equipment. However, it provides a potent, safe, and chlorophyll-free product.

Now based on this product selection methodology, check out the following five of the best CBD vape juices and CBD vape oils.

How Much CBD Vape Juice Should I Use?

There is no standard dosage for any individual of CBD vape juice consumption since it depends on several factors like tolerance level, body weight, along with why you are using CBD, etc. Each person’s body chemistry will react according to their metabolism and endocannabinoid system, although there is a basic classification based on body weight that you may find online for generalized low-to-high dosages.

Still, when in doubt, it is always safe to start with the minimal dosage and gradually tweak it according to the symptoms being treated. With time and experience, you will be able to decide the effective dosage that works just for you.

How Long Do the Effects of CBD Vape Juice Last?

A normal CBD vape cartridge contains about 100mg of CBD which translated into 1-2mg of CBD per puff. As just discussed above, the effects of CBD vape juice manifest according to each body type and individual tolerance level so no hard and fast rule can be applied here.

Based on the noticeable effects as reported by multiple users, the effects take about 10-15 minutes to manifest themselves and can last up to 2 to 4 hours. Most new CBD vape juice users need to adjust their consumption according to the symptoms they are trying to focus on.

Is it Safe to Vape CBD Vape Juice?

When choosing a safe and best CBD vape juice, you need to differentiate between the CBD oil tinctures and CBD vape juice. CBD oil tinctures are orally administered and recommended for ingestion while CBD vape juice is not meant for you to ingest. As long as CBD vape juice is used in an ENDS device like vape, it is safe to use. That being said, vaping affects your lungs and CBD School does not recommend vaping CBD or any other product.

Most credible vape juice manufacturers label their products which will assist you in choosing a product that meets your individual preference and standards. Another clear-cut option for safe use is CBD cartridges or pods which are made using the CO2 CBD extraction method and ensures the highest quality product.

What is in Vape Juice?

Vape juice is a solution of propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), distilled water, and artificial flavoring as a basic concoction. As further flavor and potency enhancers, you may find nicotine, CBD extract, terpenes, cannabinoids, and other natural flavors incorporated in a range of vape juice products.

CBD Legality

Since CBD is an extract of the natural hemp plant, it is no longer deemed illegal by the federal and most state governments in the US. After the introduction of The Hemp Farming Act in 2018, hemp is exempted from the DEA’s Schedule 1 narcotic status. In most states where hemp-sourced CBD is legal, you can get a prescription from a doctor for medical CBD products that contain the legal limit (0.3%) of THC.

CBD Safety and Side Effects

As mentioned earlier, it is difficult to assess how CBD affects each individual depending on their specific biochemical vulnerabilities. A cross-sectional study of CBD users conducted by Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research in July 20184 revealed that some of the side effects of CBD can be:

That said, CBD remains a non-addictive therapeutic substance with no reported abuse potential5 as per WHO’s 2018 report on CBD.

Final Thoughts

We’ve provided you with our list of some of the best CBD vape juices  available in the market. From the four generations of evolving vaping technologies to the diverse range of vape flavors available to users, you can choose just the right product according to your specific needs.

While vaping CBD products may be the quickest way to get CBD into your bloodstream, it is also the most harmful way to take CBD. Your lungs are affected when vaping or smoking which can have negative long-term affects on your body. As mentioned in the article, CBD School does not encourage you to vape anything, including CBD.
